Social Groups and Gatherings

“The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.” 2 Corinthians 13:14

Fellowship, fun, and food also serve to enrich the body of Christ. We were made to connect, to support, and to love one another.

OLA Ladies Bowling League

OLA Ladies Bowling 09/04/19

The Ladies Bowling League is a social, non-competitive group of women bowlers from our parish community.  We bowl on Wednesdays, 12:00 noon at Metro Bowl, 63 Foster Street, Peabody, and we are always seeking new bowlers. It's a fun way to make new friends while getting a little exercise! For more information, call Fran Reardon at 781-599-1197.

OLA Social Group

The OLA Social Group's founding mission was not a lofty one, but one of great value nonetheless: to give men and women, 55 and older, an opportunity to share faith, fun, and friendship.  The breadth of activities are ever-changing and range from the soul-enriching to the silly.  On the first Thursday of each month, a dinner meeting is held at 6:30 pm in OLA’s Church Hall, followed by entertainment. The cost is $17 for members; $20 for guests. Several times a year, excursions are offered.  From theater performances to harbor cruises, museum visits to clambakes, trips to take in the foliage to trips to take in the Boston Pops, the Social Group offers activities for everyone’s interests.  Please contact Regina LaVasseur, OLA Social Group President, at 978-532-0839 for more information.

“Angela’s Café”

Everyone is invited to a weekly gathering after the 9:00 am Wednesday Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption for coffee and fellowship.

SMG's Social Events

SMG Softball Game 09/09/18St. Maria Goretti has a calendar full of social events that parishioners look forward to all year.  The all-in-good-fun softball game and cookout held in the field behind SMG is the perfect setting to enjoy the last gasps of summer. In September, our Pancake Breakfast kicks off the new Faith Formation year and is a wonderful way to reconnect with neighbors and friends as people get back to their school year routines.  The Christmas Party at the beginning of December brings festively decked-out guests to an equally festive venue of twinkle lights and glittery decor. To ward off the mid-winter blues, the annual Pasta Dinner is always the hottest ticket in town, bringing generations together over meatballs and ziti.

OLA Feast Day Brunch 08/14/16Both SMG and OLA churches offer Sunday collations about once a month.  At St. Maria Goretti, these are after the 9:30 am Mass and at Our Lady of the Assumption, after the 11:00 am Mass.  The dates vary, so please check the bulletin or the online calendar.
