Twenty-third Sunday in Ordinary Time

News and Notes: Our Sunday 5PM Mass at St. Maria Goretti Parish resumes next Sunday, September 11…please spread the word!  Join us for Mass on Labor Day, Monday, September 5 at OLA (9AM).

A Labor Day Prayer

On Labor Day weekend, the Church prays for all those who work to support themselves and their families, especially those who labor in difficult working conditions, and those workers who are tried unfairly or who do not receive just compensation.  We also pray for those who are unemployed or discouraged about seeking gainful employment.  Here is a Prayer for the Sanctification of Human Labor, taken from the Roman Missal:

O God, who through human labor never cease to be perfect and govern the vast work of creation, listen to the supplications of your people and grant that all men and women may find work that befits their dignity, joins them more closely to one another, and enables them to serve their neighbor…through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever. Amen.

Blessings to all of you in the week ahead!
