Twenty-Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time

News and NotesCongratulations to all our teens who are receiving the Sacrament of Confirmationthis Sunday 9/30 at the SMG 5PM Mass…may the gifts of the Holy Spirit they receive in Confirmation empower them to be strong public witnesses for Christ and active, contributing members of Christ’s Church!

Many thanks to all those who helped make our Parish Socials the last three weekends (the Softball Game/ Barbeque at SMG on 9/9; the Pancake Breakfast at SMG on 9/16; and the Fall Brunch at OLA on 9/23) such wonderful events of food and fellowship!

We have submitted our new Five-year Pastoral Plan for the Lynnfield Catholic Collaborative to Cardinal Sean O’Malley.  The plan identifies three pastoral priorities and associated goals to fulfill the Archdiocesan mandate that parishes become evangelizing communities of Jesus’ disciples.  Our three priorities are:

  1. Recruit Volunteers to Serve in Ministry (that means discerning, identifying, inviting, forming and supporting committed lay members of our parishes to serve in various roles to help our Collaborative grow).
  2. Promote an Ongoing Culture of Vocations to the Diocesan Priesthood (that means providing different opportunities to pray for vocations; inviting male high school students to diocesan vocation events; and hosting a panel discussion covering all vocations).
  3. Foster Lifelong Formation (in particular, this refers to our efforts to improve our baptismal preparation process for parents, and to develop a plan for better post-baptismal catechesis and outreach to parents who present their children for baptism; as well as targeting and then implementing different offerings for a more robust adult faith formation program).

Copies of our new Pastoral Plan will be available soon.I ask you to please read the Plan and find some way to help us be successful in realizing these priorities.

Blessings to all of you in the week ahead!
