Twenty-seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time
News and Notes: Bishop Mark O’Connell, the Regional Bishop of the North Region of the Archdiocese of Boston, has accepted my invitation to conduct a “Q & A” Listening Session concerning the current news about the clergy sexual abuse scandal and how it is being handled by Church leadership. This event will take place this coming Wednesday, October 10 at OLA Church Hall from 6:30 to 8PM. Everyone is welcome to come and ask their questions or simply express their views to a man who is a Bishop, an expert in Canon Law, a good listener and one of my former students. Refreshments will be available.
Next weekend, Bishop Mark will be presiding at the 11AM Sunday Mass at OLA, where more of our High School juniors will be confirmed. Thanks to Pam Guerrieo, our Collaborative Director of Youth Faith Formation, and all the adult catechists and other volunteers who have contributed in any way to the formation of our young people over the years. Along with the parents and sponsors of our candidates for Confirmation, our catechists have played a very important role in accompanying our teens to this spiritual milestone in their lives, the sealing and strengthening of the grace of their baptism so that they can bear an effective witness to Christ in the world. Please keep our 11th grade confirmation candidates in your prayers this coming week.
Blessings to all of you in the week ahead!
