Twenty-seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time

News and Notes:

Saint Peter referred to followers of Christ as living stones charged with building up God’s spiritual house.  Saint Fulgentius of Ruspe takes this further by saying “there is no more effective way to pray for this spiritual growth than for the Church, itself Christ’s body, to make the offering of his body and blood in the sacramental form of bread and wine.  For the cup we drink is a participation in the blood of Christ, and the bread we break is a participation in the body of Christ.”  So through the Eucharist, not only do we grow closer to Christ, we also build up the body of Christ.

Blessings to you in the week ahead!
