Thirtieth Sunday in Ordinary Time

News and Notes: Next Sunday, November 5, we will celebrate Remembrance Masses at both parishes (10AM at SMG and 11AM at OLA).  During these liturgies, the names of people whose funerals were celebrated since last November at that particular parish will be read. Join us for these Masses as we honor the faithful departed from our Catholic community.  Collations will follow these Masses…all are welcome.

Don’t miss our Addressing Substance Abuse presentation by Deacon Jim Greer on Thursday, November 16 from 6:30-8PM in the SMG Church Hall.  Deacon Greer is a leader in the Archdiocesan Task Force on Addiction Recovery and Pastoral Support Services.  He will help us understand better the current Opioid Abuse crisis and the urgent need to respond to it effectively.  All adults from our Collaborative are encouraged to attend in order to be well informed on this widespread problem in our culture, especially among young adults.

The following Sunday, November 19 at 6:30PM, SMG will host an ecumenical Candlelight Vigil Servicein which we will remember the victims and survivors of drug abuse.  The service will feature music, witness talks and a ritual honoring those who have lost their lives to this cruel addiction.  Join us for this town-wide spiritual event in which we will respond to the Opioid Epidemic with the resources of faith, prayer and fellowship.  A collation will follow in the Church Hall after the service.  Blessings to all of you in the week ahead!
