Twenty-ninth Sunday in Ordinary Time
News and Notes: I am announcing at all OLA Masses this weekend the start of an Increased Offertory Program that is so important to the life of their parish. All OLA households are being asked to increase their weekly commitment to the best of their financial ability through the Sunday Offertory collection. We are asking parishioners to reflect on the importance of this weekly collection and on their role as stewards of Our Lady of the Assumption Parish. Please support OLA’s mission through the Offertory envelope system or on-line giving. All increases, large and small, will greatly benefit OLA parish.
Recent economic difficulties continue to affect all parishes financially, as it has many of the OLA households. Our OLA parish family must respond with a concerted effort to raise our Sunday Offertory revenue so we can continue and even expand the ministries and activities of the parish, maintain and upgrade our facilities and grounds, and provide a just compensation for our lay employees. Already much has been asked of OLA families, some of whom are on fixed income or experiencing difficult financial times, but we are counting on those who are able to make a sacrifice and increase their weekly offering. In the next few days, OLA parishioners will receive a Brochure and a Commitment Envelope in the mail. This brochure contains information about the OLA parish circumstances and giving history. Please read it carefully and prayerfully and return your Commitment Envelope to Mass on the weekend of November 1 and 2. If you are going to be out-of-town or unable to attend Mass that weekend, please mail your Commitment Envelope to the Office at 17 Grove Street or simply place it in the collection basket the following weekend. St. Maria Goretti will begin its Increased Offertory Campaign in the coming weeks. Something to ponder: A parish community is a reflection of each of its members. Our individual generosity determines what our parish community can do for others. A small sacrifice makes a big difference. Thank you for your support in this endeavor and blessings to all of you in the week ahead!
