Twenty-eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time
News and Notes: As you make your pledge for sacrificial giving to your respective parish in the upcoming year, here are a couple of quotes from Scripture to ponder:
Writing to the Corinthians who were funding his missionary work for the early Christian Church, St. Paul says: “You will be enriched in every way for your great generosity, which through us produces thanksgiving to God…you are glorifying God for your obedient confession of the gospel of Christ and the generosity of your contribution (2 Corinthians 9:11-13).”
In the First Letter to Timothy, these words are addressed to the leaders of the Church in Ephesus concerning the proper use of that community’s treasure: “Tell the people not to rely on so uncertain a thing as wealth but rather on God, who richly provides us with all things for our enjoyment…tell them to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous, ready to share, thus accumulating as treasure a good foundation for the future, so as to win the life that is true life (1 Timothy 6:17-19).”
Thanks to our Collaborative Development Committee and all our parishioners who are participating in our 2017-2018 Parish Pledge Campaign. Blessings to all of you in the week ahead!
