Twenty-eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time
News and Notes:
For the seventh consecutive year, we are blessed to have a deacon intern from Pope St. John XXIII Seminary in Weston, MA, for his final year of formation prior to priestly ordination. Deacon Daniel Caughey is a seminarian preparing for priesthood in the Diocese of Syracuse, New York. For 30 years, he was a middle school Science teacher in upstate New York. He was ordained to the Permanent Diaconate in 2004, but after his wife of 25 years died in 2013, Deacon Dan decided to discern a vocation to the priesthood and eventually entered the seminary. He and his wife had several foster children over the years and he still keeps in touch with a number of them. Like all his predecessors, he will be with us on weekends until May, serving us in multiple ways, including assisting at the altar at Mass, proclaiming the gospel, preaching from time to time, and presiding at baptisms. Please join me in welcoming Deacon Dan to Ave Maria Parish!
Blessings to you in the week ahead!
