Thirty-first Sunday in Ordinary Time

News and Notes:  While we are on the topic of loving God and neighbor, I encourage everyone to attend an upcoming ecumenical/interfaith event at St. Maria Goretti Parish on Sunday, November 18 at 6:30PM.  It is entitled “Choose Love.”  This event is sponsored by the Lynnfield Clergy Association and Scarlett Lewis is the featured speaker.  Ms. Lewis is the mother of a young child named Jesse, who was one of the victims of the mass shooting at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut six years ago.  She will speak about the heroism of her son on that tragic day, and the “Jesse Lewis Choose Love Movement” that she started as a response to the violence that seems to be so rampant in our world today.  Don’t miss this inspiring presentation which will be followed by refreshments in the SMG Hall.

Our grateful shout-outs go….to Marie Lagman, Caterina Benitez and Deacon Fran Burke for their major contributions to our Annual Report detailing in prose, numbers and imagery the various “seasons” of our Collaborative life in the past fiscal year…to Beverly Merritt and Elizabeth Basile for planning and hosting a delightful reception for Bette Mahoney marking Betty’s decades-long faithful and fruitful service as an instrumentalist at liturgies and other events at St. Maria’s and Our Lady’s…and to Rich Mazzola, Marianne Rooney Hegan, Erik Ryan and all the members of our Development Committee for their hard work in preparing for our annual pledge renewal program, to support the operating and capital expenses of our parishes.

Blessings to all of you in the week ahead!
