The Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe

News and Notes:  Join us for the Lynnfield Interfaith Thanksgiving Service on Sunday evening, November 23 at 7PM in St. Maria Goretti Church.  Also, our Collaborative Thanksgiving Day Mass will be held this year at SMG beginning at 9AM.  Next weekend, we start a new liturgical year with the First Sunday of Advent.   We have a special event planned at St. Maria’s on Monday, December 1 at 7PM to help us usher in this season of preparation for the feast of Christ’s birth.  It is called “The God of This City Tour” co-sponsored by the Archdiocesan Office for Lifelong Faith Formation and Parish Support, and LIFT Ministries.  SMG will be the first stop in a five-parish, five-night tour around the Archdiocese ending at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Boston on December 5.  Each night features praise and worship music, a dynamic speaker, Eucharistic Adoration and ample opportunity for the Sacrament of Reconciliation.  On Monday December 1, the speaker at St. Maria’s will be Father Matthew Williams, Director of the Office for the New Evangelization of Youth and Young Adults.  Don’t miss this faith-filled, uplifting experience at the start of Advent!  Monday, December 8 is the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a Holyday of Obligation.  Masses will be celebrated on 12/8 at 7AM (SMG), 9AM (OLA), and 7PM (OLA).  Here is a blessing of food that families can use on Thanksgiving Day:  God most provident, we join all creation in raising to you a hymn of thanksgiving through Jesus Christ, your Son.  For generation upon generation peoples of this land have sung of your bounty; we too offer you praise for the rich harvest we have received at your hands.  Bless us and this food which we share with grateful hearts.  Continue to make our land fruitful and let our love for you be seen in our pursuit of peace and justice and in our generous response to those in need.  Praise and glory to you, Lord God, now and forever.  Amen.  Happy Thanksgiving and blessings to all of you in the week ahead!
