Thirty-third Sunday in Ordinary Time

News and Notes:

Join us for the 9AM Mass at St. Our Lady of the Assumption Church on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 28…a great way to thank the Lord for all the good he has done for us.  Speaking of gratitude, our thanks go to Angela Siraco and Mary Lou Goodwin (OLA), as well as Beverly Merritt and Jason Kimball (SMG) and all the members of the Inspiring Hope Committees at both OLA and SMG for their efforts to promote our important Development Campaign for the future of our parishes.

In thinking about your own pledge of financial support of the Endowment and Maintenance Funds in your particular parish, I offer you this quote from St. Paul’s Second Letter to the Corinthians, Chapter 9, verses 6-8 for your reflection:  “Consider this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.  Each must do as already determined, without sadness or compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.  Moreover, God is able to make every grace abundant for you, so that in all things, always having all that you need, you may have an abundance of resources for every good work.”   Next weekend (November 23-24) is Commitment Weekend in our Collaborative, when everyone will be asked to make a sacrificial pledge of a financial contribution (that can be paid over a 5 year period) to support their particular parish in the coming years.

Blessings to all of you in the week ahead!
