Fifth Sunday of Easter

News and Notes:  Ascension Thursday is this coming Thursday, May 29.  It is a Holyday of Obligation.  Here is our Mass schedule:

Lisa Trainor is completing her work at St. Maria Goretti Parish at the end of this month.  For the last several years, Lisa has served first as the Director of Religious Education and more recently, as the Coordinator of Grades 3-6 at SMG.  Among her many contributions over these years is her leadership role in upgrading our electronic communication as a tool for proper record keeping and keeping our parishioners well informed about programs and events.  Thank you, Lisa, and best wishes as you begin a new chapter of your life!  Here is the latest 2014 Catholic Appeal (CA) update:  as of May 14, 107 St. Maria Goretti parishioners had pledged $23,380 which is 79% of their goal; CA personnel say that at the present rate of giving, SMG needs 31 more parish families to donate a combined amount of $6,305 to reach their goal.  By 5/14, 207 Our Lady of the Assumption parishioners had pledged $46,982 which is 88% of their goal; CA representatives estimate that if present pledge rates hold, OLA needs 26 more parish families to donate a combined total of $6,470 to achieve their goal.  Let’s go for the finish line in both parishes by the end of June.   Happy Memorial Day and let’s remember all of our deceased veterans who gave their lives in service of our country’s freedom.  Blessings to all of you in the week ahead!
