Seventh Sunday of Easter

News and Notes:  I wish to announce that Bethany Kilroy, our wonderful Faith Formation Coordinator of Grades 1-6 for the last few years at St. Maria Goretti Parish, has decided to leave her position for family reasons.  Bethany has served our young children and families with great enthusiasm, joy, and dedication.  We will surely miss her energy and commitment to our mission, but wish her abundant blessings as she begins a new chapter of her life.  Join me in thanking Bethany for her splendid service as a leader in forming our children in the Catholic faith!

Here is the latest update on our performance in the 2018 Catholic Appeal:   As of April 20, OLA families had pledged $49,251 which is 79% of their parish goal of $62,343; and SMG families had pledged $39,255, which is 104% of their parish goal of $37,832. Remember that since both of our parishes have qualified for a Catholic Appeal rebate this year, each will receive about 50 cents of every dollar of paid pledges over its fair-share assessment figure, a handsome and welcome reward to our parishes for the generous giving of its members. So, if you have not yet made a pledge to the 2018 Catholic Appeal, do it soon by filling out a pledge card or going online to www.bostoncatholicappeal.org.

Congratulations to the second graders from OLA School who are receiving their First Holy Communion this weekend…and many thanks to Mary Disick and Colleen Shea, their teachers, for preparing the children so well for this sacramental milestone in Catholic life.

Happy Mother’s Day to all our Moms and blessings to all of you in the week ahead!
