Sixth Sunday of Easter

News and Notes:  Congratulations to our second graders who are receiving Holy Communion for the first time this weekend.  May the Bread of Life sustain them every step of the way in their journey of life!  A shout-out goes to Andrew Walton for receiving the Eagle Scout award at a recent Court of Honor ceremony hosted by Lynnfield Boy Scout Troop 48 at Centre Congregational Church.  Andrew has been an altar server for several years at OLA, and his Eagle Scout project was to build a Memorial Garden at Our Lady of the Assumption School n memory of the late Benjamin “Sonny” Tropeano, who was a former student at OLA School.    Here is the latest update on the 2016 Catholic Appeal: as of April 19 about six weeks after the formal start of the Appeal, St. Maria Goretti parishioners had pledged $41,572, which is 150% of their goal of $27,797; Our Lady of the Assumption parishioners had pledged $49,198, which is 90% of their goal of $54,938.  If you have not already made a pledge this year to the Catholic Appeal, please do so as soon as possible in support of the over fifty Central Ministries of the Catholic Church in eastern Massachusetts.  Just a reminder: SMG will receive 65 cents of every dollar that is pledged and paid for over their goal; the same can happen to OLA if they exceed their goal.

Don’t forget the Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord, a Holy Day of Obligation, which occurs this coming Thursday, May 5.   Masses will be celebrated as follows:

Wednesday, May 4:  4PM at OLA
Thursday, May 5:      7AM at SMG, 9AM at OLA, 7PM at SMG

Blessings to all of you in the week ahead!
