First Sunday of Lent

News and Notes:  I ask for your prayers for our Confirmation candidates from both parishes.  The 10th-graders from St. Maria’s will be confirmed at the 5PM Mass on Sunday, March 23.  The students from Our Lady’s will be confirmed in one of two liturgies the following Sunday, March 30: 11AM or 2PM.  Let’s pray that the Holy Spirit will bestow his many gifts on our teens, making them faithful and effective witnesses for Christ in the world.  The Easter Triduum schedule is as follows:

April 17:  Holy Thursday Mass of the Lord’s Supper at 7PM (OLA) preceded by a pasta dinner in the OLA Church Hall at 5:30 and followed by Eucharistic Adoration in the OLA Chapel until 9:00
April 18:  Good Friday Stations of the Cross at 3PM (SMG); Liturgy of the Passion of the Lord at 7PM (OLA)
April 19:  The Easter Vigil in the Holy Night at 8PM (SMG)
April 20: Easter Sunday of the Resurrection of the Lord:  7AM Mass at OLA; 8AM Mass at SMG;9AM Mass at OLA; 10AM Mass at SMG; 11AM Mass at OLA

Caterina Benitez, our capable Finance and Operations Manager, passes on to everyone a snapshot of this current fiscal year’s Offertory performance through the first six months (July 1-December 31, 2013):

Our Lady’s parishioners donated $243,161, which was about 7.5% above the projected budget of $226,250.  St. Maria’s parishioners donated $137,202 which was just about 25% below the projected budget of $183,536.  Thanks to those who have supported their respective parish so generously.  I support both parishes’ offertory collections as much as my budget will allow and invite everyone to join me in contributing to the stewardship their particular parish.  Blessings to all of you in the week ahead!
