Eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time
News and Notes: This is Commitment Weekend for the 2019 Catholic Appeal. The images and words of the Catholic Appeal posters hanging in our churches express the theme for this year’s Appeal: “This is Our Church.” The Church consists of all of us, laity, religious and clergy. By virtue of our baptism, we all share in the blessings and responsibilities of the Church and its mission. Your donation to the Catholic Appeal will not only support the 50+ Central Ministries of the Catholic Church in Eastern Massachusetts, it will also support your parish, SMG or OLA. Last year, because both our parishes surpassed their Catholic Appeal fair share assessment, they have each received a rebate totaling thousands of dollars, money that we can really use to help pay our snow removal and other bills at this time of year. So, I am asking every parish family to fill out a pledge card that will be distributed at all the Masses this weekend and return it as soon as possible. Once again, every parish needs to meet its in-pew Catholic Appeal pledge card goal in order to qualify for a rebate. Join me in making a generous gift to this year’s Catholic Appeal because “This is our Church.”
Ash Wednesday Schedule
We will celebrate the Ash Wednesday liturgies as follows:
7AM Mass at SMG, 9AM Mass at OLA, 4PM Liturgy of the Word at SMG, 7PM Liturgy of the Word at OLA
By practicing the traditional spiritual disciplines of prayer, fasting and almsgiving, may we all grow closer to Christ in the Lenten days ahead…blessings to all of you!
