The Second Sunday of Lent

News and Notes:

If you have not yet made a pledge to the 2019 Catholic Appeal, please do so as soon as possible.  Your donation will be a twofold blessing to your Church: it will support the 50+ ministries of the wider Catholic Church in the Boston Metropolitan area as well as the mission of your particular parish.  If we exceed our respective pledge card and financial assessment goals, our parishes will receive a rebate of up to 50% of the paid pledges over our assessment.  Last year, because of our generous response to the Catholic Appeal, OLA received over $10,000 and SMG netted over $5700 in rebates, funds that helped us pay our heating and snow removal bills this winter.  Please join me in making a pledge to the 2019 Catholic Appeal, because as the theme of the Appeal this year states, “This is Our Church.”

Donna Delahanty, Donna Hegan, Kate McGrath and I are starting what we are calling “Discipleship School,” a program that we hope will form our parishioners in their call to be disciples of Christ.  The program will feature presentations, interactive exercises, guidance on how to give an effective prepared or spontaneous witness to our faith in Christ, and spiritual enrichment.  The first series of sessions will take place on the first three Monday evenings in June (3, 10, 17) from 6:30-8PM at St. Maria Goretti Church Hall.  More details to come soon.

Blessings to all of you in your Lenten journey!
