Fourth Sunday of Lent

As an ensemble of sacred texts, this weekend's readings deliver a powerful message about God’s response to human weakness and sinfulness. No matter how deeply we may be entangled in selfishness, immorality, or serious breaches in our relationship with the Lord, if we turn back to him with a humble, contrite heart, we can be assured of his merciful compassion, especially when we receive absolution after we confess our sins in the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
