Second Sunday of Lent
News and Notes: This is Commitment Weekend for the 2017 Catholic Appeal, the annual Archdiocesan Offertory Collection that helps to fund more than 50 Central Ministries that are so vital to the mission of the Catholic Church in eastern Massachusetts. Since the startup of our Collaborative in 2013, we have received valuable assistance from so many of the Offices and Services of the Archdiocesan Pastoral Center in Braintree. From the Human Resources Department to Parish Financial Services; from the Office of Pastoral Planning to the Office of Canonical Affairs and the Metropolitan Tribunal; from the Office of Lifelong Faith Formation to the Catholic Schools Office, our parishes and school have experienced the support of so many Archdiocesan ministries that are funded by the Catholic Appeal. I have made my pledge to the 2017 Appeal and encourage you to make yours this weekend by filling out the pledge cards in the pews or the front entrance of our churches, or by going to www.bostoncatholicappeal.org in the days to come. If we exceed our fair-share assessment, as we did fairly quickly in both parishes last year, we will receive back 60% of the paid pledges that are made over that amount. Let’s make it happen!
Join us at OLA this Monday through Wednesday evening from 7-8PM for our annual Lenten Mission, led by Deacon Fran Burke and Kathy Cullen. The theme this year is Gratitude, a virtue we should all strive to express in word and deed every day, especially for the abundant mercy of our Savior. Blessings to all of you in the Lenten days ahead!
