The First Sunday of Lent
News and Notes:
"This is Our Church”... If you have not already had a chance to fill out and return your pledge card for the 2019 Catholic Appeal, please do so as soon as possible. Your donation to this year’s Appeal, the theme of which is “This is Our Church,” will not only support the fifty central ministries of the Catholic Church in Eastern Massachusetts, but the mission and ministries of our own parishes and school as well. Over the last six years, the Lynnfield Catholic Collaborative has benefitted greatly from the service of the Pastoral Center Offices, including Evangelization and Faith Formation, Financial Services, Human Resources, Media Ministry and the Catholic Schools Office. So please support our parishes, school and wider Catholic Church with a generous pledge to this year’s Catholic Appeal.
The Light is on for You This Lent... Beginning this Wednesday, March 13, and for the remaining Wednesdays in Lent, I will be available for the Sacrament of Penance from 6:30-7:30PM in the Reconciliation Room at St. Maria Goretti Church. All are welcome to receive the forgiving, healing grace of our Savior during this penitential season.
Grant from the Healey Education Foundation... Our Lady of the Assumption School was recently selected to be one of six Catholic Schools in the Archdiocese of Boston to receive a $50,000 grant from the Healey Foundation, an organization that supports Catholic education throughout our nation. This grant will help our School hire a Development Director, and form what is called a Board of Specified Jurisdiction, a decision making body that will oversee budgetary and development issues, among others. Congratulations to our School for receiving this coveted grant!
The Return of Father Patrick Grode...Father Patrick Grode, our deacon intern last year from the Diocese of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, will return to celebrate Mass with us on the weekend of March 30-31. Father Patrick will celebrate the 4PM Mass at OLA on Saturday, March 30 and the 10AM Mass at SMG on March 31. Please join me in welcoming Fr. Patrick back to our Collaborative!
Blessings to all of you in the Lenten days ahead!
