Fourteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
News and Notes: I am pleased to announce the appointment of Cynthia Donovan as the new Principal of OLA School as of July 5. Cindy is well known to the OLA community. For fourteen years, she taught either first or second graders at our School; and during that period of time she ran the Summer Bible Camp, and served as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion at Mass. For the last four years, she has taught fifth graders at Cobbet Elementary School in Lynn. So as Cindy returns to OLA School she brings a varied and effective teaching resume, as well as a strong Catholic faith; and she brings a determination to build on the considerable progress our School has made in recent years. Join me in welcoming Cindy back home to OLA!
Thanks to Angela Siraco, Mary Lou Goodwin and all the members of the OLA Hospitality group for hosting the collation following the 10AM Mass at SMG this weekend. This annual reception is in honor of St. Maria Goretti Parish’s patronal feast (the actual date is July 6). Thanks also to our new “Holy Spirit Ensemble,” which is comprised of musicians and singers from both parishes, for leading song at this Mass. This Ensemble debuted on Pentecost Sunday at SMG, and then led song again two weeks later at an OLA liturgy on Corpus Christi Sunday (the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ). These men, women, teens and young children from our Collaborative plan to play and sing again on August 13 at the OLA 11AM Mass, after which SMG parishioners will host a collation in honor of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, OLA’s patronal feast (which actually falls on August 15). Everyone is welcome. Blessings to all of you in the week ahead!
