Seventeenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
News and Notes: We are looking for members of both parishes to serve on a number of Committees that will help us implement our Pastoral Plan for the next three years. One of them is a Collaborative Vocations Committee that will assist us in promoting an ongoing culture of vocations to the diocesan priesthood. You can find more information about this proposed Vocations Committee in our Pastoral Plan under Priority #3 “Establish Lifelong Faith Formation” (the Plan is available on our website). I will be serving on this committee which we hope to convene in September. Please let me know if you are willing and able to join me in this initiative, more important than ever with the declining number of parish priests in our portion of the Lord’s vineyard. Another new committee in need of membership is a Collaborative Stewardship Committee that will help us develop among our parishioners the time, talent, and treasure we will need to grow our Catholic Community of faith in the years to come. Contact me to learn more or express your desire to serve on this vital Development initiative. It will begin meeting next month and will be led by Mary Doorley, a Lynnfield resident and a representative of the Development Office at the Archdiocesan Pastoral Center in Braintree. I am taking a break from writing this column for the next few weeks. Paul Wargovich, our seminarian for the summer who is completing his assignment in our Collaborative, will be writing this column next weekend (August 1-2) and Fr. Tony will favor us with his words of wisdom the following weekend (August 8-9). Blessings to all of you in the summer days ahead!
