Sixteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

News and Notes:

Visiting Priests... A priest from the Society of the Propagation of the Faith will be preaching at Masses in our parishes this weekend (July 22-23).  Please welcome him and be generous in support of the second collection which supports the Church’s missionary work about which he will be speaking.  Once again this August, one of the priests from the Society of African Mission Fathers (SMA) will be with us to fill in for me while I am on retreat and taking some vacation time.  He will be living at the “White House” at OLA and serving in both parishes for the month.

Catholic Appeal Update... Here is a midsummer update on our 2017 Catholic Appeal performance:  as of June 27, OLA parishioners had pledged $67,769, which is 114% of their goal, and SMG parishioners had pledged $32,305, which is 94% of their goal.   Remember, if SMG goes over its fair share assessment with paid pledges, as OLA has already, it will receive back 65% of the excess funds donated….money that can come in very handy in February when we usually have to plow and shovel our properties.  I encourage everyone in both parishes to make a pledge to the Catholic Appeal, if they have not done so already.  Pledge cards are available at the entrances of our churches or go online to www.bostoncatholicappeal.org.

Blessings to all of you in the summer days ahead!
