Fifteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

News and Notes:

If you have not already done so, please consider a name for our newly merged parish.  The name cannot be either “Our Lady of the Assumption” or “St. Maria Goretti Parish”; it can be a title of Jesus, the Holy Spirit or our Blessed Mother that is accepted in the liturgy but not widely used in the naming of parishes, or it can be the name of an archangel or canonized saint.  In addition to the famous saints, I encourage you to keep in mind the names of more recently canonized saints.  You can submit up to three suggestions for a name to email address: [email protected], or you can mail/drop off your nominations to our Collaborative Office, 17 Grove St. Lynnfield, MA 01940.  Attention: Donna Delahanty. The deadline for name submissions is August 1.  All the names will be reviewed by a subcommittee of our Parish Pastoral Council (PPC): Donna Delahanty, John DiBello, Patty Glennon, John Lozada, and Eric Rich. Then the whole PPC will make a recommendation of 3 names we will send to Cardinal Sean O’Malley, who will decide the name of our merged parish.  As I have said before, the two churches will retain their current names after the Cardinal selects a new name for our merged parish.
