Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time
and Notes: This weekend, February 7 and 8, we are celebrating the “World Day of the Sick” which actually falls on the Memorial of Our Lady of Lourdes, next Wednesday February 11. After both 4PM Masses, and the 10AM (SMG) and 11AM (OLA) Masses, the priests will be anointing those who are seriously or chronically ill, facing major surgery, or dealing with the burdens of aging. In establishing this day of prayer for the sick in 1992, Pope John Paul II designated this day as “a special time of prayer and sharing, of offering one’s suffering for the good of the Church and of reminding us to see in our sick brother and sister the face of Christ who, by suffering, dying and rising, achieved the salvation of the human race.” If you know of anyone who is ill and would like a pastoral visit from our seminarian Francis Pham, he is happy to bring his ears to listen, his smile to uplift, and the precious gift of Holy Communion to the sick and homebound. If you want Francis to pay a visit or need a priest for the Sacrament of Reconciliation and/or the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick, call the Collaborative Office at 781-598-4313 and let Janine or Diane know. Next weekend, we will mark World Marriage Day by inviting our married couples at all the Masses to renew their wedding vows. Join us for the Ham and Bean Supper next Saturday, February 14 following the 4PM Mass at OLA. Blessings to all of you in the week ahead!
