Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time

and Notes: Next Sunday, February 12, Sister Linda Bessom, SND, who works with the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless (MCH) will be with us after the 10AM Mass at St. Maria Goretti Parish to receive a check of $5,785 from the Lynnfield Catholic Collaborative for the MCH Campaign to raise funds to provide “250 Beds for 250 Children by Christmas.”  As you recall, we collected this money during our “Coins for Kids” Children’s Offertory at the OLA 9AM Mass and the SMG 10AM Mass during Advent.  It was very touching to watch our little ones come forward at these liturgies with their ziploc bags of change, and their loose coins and bills that could have been placed in their piggy banks at home, so that other children could sleep comfortably at night.  A big “thank you” to the children who participated in this Advent Offertory!   I also want to thank the adults and families from both parishes that made generous donations to supplement the contributions of our children.  The charitable efforts of our Lynnfield Catholic Community during Advent raised enough money to provide 23 beds so that nearly two dozen children can get a good night’s sleep.  May God bless the generosity of our people, continue to prompt us to serve and care for all those in need, and protect all those who are homeless, especially during these winter months…Blessings to all of you in the week ahead!
