Eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time

New and Notes:  Lent begins this week with our celebration of Ash Wednesday.  The liturgies with the distribution of ashes will be celebrated as follows:

7AM Mass at SMG, 9AM Mass at OLA, 4PM Service of the Word at SMG, 7PM Service of the Word at OLA

Congratulations are in order to John Lozada, an OLA parishioner and member of our Collaborative Pastoral Council.  Cardinal Sean O’Malley has appointed John to be our Vicariate’s representative on the Archdiocesan Pastoral Council, a consultative body which advises the Cardinal on matters of pastoral concern.  Let’s pray for John as he begins his service in this new and important role. 

Our Lenten charity this year in both parishes is to support Fr. Don Phiri and the SMA Fathers (who are with us during the summer) in their ministry to the Church in Africa.  We will be raising funds to provide these African priests with such items as bicycles to get around to their parishes and soccer balls they can use in their service to the youth.  During this upcoming season of almsgiving, we invite you to support this noble cause.
