First Sunday of Lent

News and Notes:  Our Lenten almsgiving this year will benefit the Water Well project in Zambia, Africa.  Fr. Don Phiri of the African Mission Fathers, who was with us during the month of August in 2016, has asked for our help in providing a source for water for many people in drought stricken areas of this southern African nation.  During Lent, we will be taking up the “Coins for Kids” collection at the 9 and 11AM Sunday Masses at OLA and the 10AM Sunday Mass at SMG.  Adults and children alike are invited to participate in this collection.  Parishioners can also send in their donation to the Collaborative Office, 17 Grove Street Lynnfield.  If you want to write a check, please mark Water Well Project in the memo line.   As always, thank you for your generosity.

A priest will be available to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation this coming Wednesday, February 21 at 6:30PM in the Reconciliation Room at OLA.  Also, our 2018 Lenten Mission will take place at OLA on March 5-7 from 7-8PM each evening.  It will be led by Chris Donoghue, from the Archdiocesan Pastoral Center; Donna Hegan; and Joe Jorge and the OLA School students.

Thanks to our Parish Catholic Appeal Coordinators Beverly Merritt (SMG) and Angela Siraco (OLA) for their leadership role in the upcoming 2018 Catholic Appeal Campaign.  If everybody contributes what they can to support the Catholic Appeal and the 50+ Central Ministries offered by the Catholic Church in eastern Massachusetts, our parishes will once again receive a healthy rebate to help us pay our bills.

Blessings to all of you in the Lenten days ahead!
