Second Sunday of Advent

News and Notes: Many thanks to all those who helped make the recent Pancake Breakfast at St. Maria’s such an enjoyable and successful event!  The SMG Church Hall was full of parishioners, including lots of young families.  Those who attended were treated to a delicious breakfast buffet served in a festive atmosphere.  Special thanks to Denis Ritchie, Dennis Rogers, our chefs, and all our kitchen workers as well as the adults and young people who contributed in any way to this wonderful event of food and fellowship.  Thanks to donors in both parishes who offered a combined total of over $1,500 to help our fellow parishioners provide a meal to 243 hungry people at My Brother’s Table on November 17.  Don’t forget the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary this Tuesday, the patronal feast day of the United States.  It is a Holyday of Obligation.  Masses are as follows:

Monday, December 7:  4PM at OLA
Tuesday, December 8: 7AM at SMG, 9AM at OLA, 7PM at SMG

Heartfelt thanks to all who have returned their pledge cards for the Faith to Action Development Campaign that is underway in both parishes.  Please join them by making a generous commitment to the future of your respective parish, both in the regular Offertory which pays for ordinary expenses, and the Capital Improvement Fund, which pays for much needed repairs and upgrades in our buildings (the roof, front doors and stairs of OLA Church for OLA parishioners; and the heating pipes of SMG Church for SMG parishioners).  Your donations will be used only for your particular parish’s needs.  Thanks for your faithful stewardship.  Advent blessings to all of you in the week ahead!
