Twenty-first Sunday in Ordinary Time

News and Notes:

In this Year of the Eucharist, I offer this reflection from Blessed Hyacinth-Marie Cormier, OP, a Dominican spiritual writer:

"The marvelous benefits we receive in the Holy Eucharist ought to inspire in us the desire to receive it frequently… many of the early Christians received Communion every day. It was this frequency of Communion that rendered them so patient in afflictions, so fervent in prayer, so zealous for the glory of God, so resigned to His will, so charitable toward their neighbors, so detached from the goods of this world, always ready to journey to martyrdom. The teachings of the holy Church Fathers confirm that early practice, because they show Holy Communion as the transcendent and daily bread which our Lord encourages us to pray for in the Lord's Prayer."

Blessings to all of you in the summer days ahead!
