Twentieth Sunday in Ordinary Time

News and Notes:

First Responder’s Mass at SMG... On Sunday, September 8, we will celebrate the 10AM Mass at SMG for First Responders.  We are so grateful for the service of our Police and Fire Departments, as well as our EMTs in the town of Lynnfield and surrounding communities.  Please join us for this Mass in honor of the men and women who are always there for us when we need them.

Summer Challenges and SMA Collection...Many thanks to all our donors for our parish Summer Challenges!  As of this writing, OLA parishioners had donated $15,695 to repair two sets of stairs (at the front entrance of the Office Building and the Chapel entrance of the Church).  Since we have surpassed our goal, we will use the additional funds to patch up and power-wash the wall at the trellis area near the Salem St. parking lot, and scrape and paint the front entranceway of the Office Building.

The Rectory Ceiling and Handicap Accessible Door Assembly Unit Challenge is still underway at SMG.  I ask all SMG Parishioners to consider making a contribution to this fundraiser, in which we are seeking to raise $3,300 to repair and paint the ceiling in the Dining Room of the Rectory, which was punctured and stained by a leak on the second floor, as well as replacing the Assembly Unit of the side door near the sacristy so that persons with disabilities can have easy access to our Church.  I have made an initial $150 donation, and invite everyone to consider joining me in this effort.  You can make out your check to SMG with Ceiling and Door Challenge in the memo line and place it in the collection basket or send it to our Chestnut St. address.

Next weekend, we will take up a collection for the Society of African Missions priests who serve our Collaborative during the summer, as well as the Church on the African continent and elsewhere throughout the year.  Please be generous as an expression of gratitude for Fr. Obro’s service in our two parishes during this month of August.

Blessings to all of you in the summer days ahead!
