Nineteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

News and Notes:  Please Save the Date of Sunday, September 21, for a Collaborative picnic on the grounds of St. Maria Goretti Parish following the 10AM Mass.  The Knights of Columbus will provide the hamburgers and hot dogs as well as the grills; bring a salad or dessert to share with others; the parishes will provide liquid refreshment.  We are also having a chili cook-off, so bring your favorite chili and join the competition!  There will be music and games for one and all.  You are welcome to bring your own chairs and blankets, though we will set up tables and chairs from the Church for your convenience.  Congratulations to Our Lady of the Assumption parishioners for exceeding their 2014 Catholic Appeal goal.  As of July 23, 224 families had pledged $54,492 which is 102% of the OLA financial goal.  If at least 9 more OLA parish families make a pledge, we will also reach our donor goal for this year, which means OLA would receive back 65% of the funds collected beyond their annual tithing assessment.  St. Maria Goretti parishioners are also doing well in the Catholic Appeal.  Thus far, 118 SMG parishioners have donated $24,920, which is 84% of their 2014 goal.  SMG needs 20 more donors and $4,765 to reach their respective marks for this year.  Thanks to all who have contributed a gift to support the mission of our local Church to this point! For your convenience, Catholic Appeal pledge cards can be found at the entrances of our churches, or you can online at www.bostoncatholicappeal.org to make a pledge.  Don’t forget the patronal feast of OLA this Friday, the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a Holy Day of Obligation.  Blessings to all of you in the summer days ahead!
