Second Sunday of Easter/Divine Mercy Sunday
News and Notes:
Divine Mercy Plenary Indulgence... Join us for our annual Divine Mercy service this Sunday at 2PM at St. Maria Goretti Church. Here are the conditions for receiving a Plenary Indulgence on Divine Mercy Sunday:
- Sacramental confession within 20 days before or after Divine Mercy Sunday;
- Reception of Holy Communion, preferably on Divine Mercy Sunday or the days before or after it;
- Saying a Prayer for the intentions of the Pope;
- In a Church or Chapel on Divine Mercy Sunday, in a spirit detached from affection for any sin, even a venial sin, taking part in the prayers and devotions in honor of Divine Mercy; or in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament, either exposed or reserved, reciting the Our Father, the Creed and a devout prayer such as “Merciful Jesus, I trust in you.”
2019 Catholic Appeal Update... Here is a quick update on our 2019 Catholic Appeal performance: as of April 8, OLA parishioners had pledged $36,620, which is 55% of their goal of $66,232; and SMG parishioners had pledged $26,090, which is 62% of their goal of $42,207. Thanks to all our donors thus far. If you have not yet made a pledge to the Catholic Appeal, please fill out a pledge card at the entrance of your parish church or go online to www.bostoncatholicappeal.org and help your parish get closer to its goal!
Please pray for the 2nd graders in our parishes who will be receiving their First Holy Communion next weekend. May the blessings of Divine Mercy be yours today and always!
