News and Notes: Many thanks to all those who had any part in making our Easter Triduum a beautiful liturgical celebration of our faith in Christ’s Passion, Death and Resurrection. Special thanks go to Jayson Cote and our music ministry, and all those who decorated our churches for Holy Week. On behalf of Fr. Tony, I want to thank you for your generous offering to this weekend’s Clergy Health and Retirement Fund collection, which helps our local Church care for the health and well-being of its 638 diocesan priests. We priests dedicate our lives in service of the faithful to whom the bishop sends us. It is our responsibility to celebrate the sacraments, preach and teach the Word of God given to us in Scripture and our wider Catholic Tradition, and offer pastoral care to the portion of the God’s people entrusted to us. Ten months into our assignment as the priests of the two parishes in the Lynnfield Pastoral Collaborative, Fr. Tony and I are very grateful for your prayers and support. Fr. Linus Mendis, former Parochial Vicar at OLA, was formerly received (incardinated) as a priest of the Archdiocese of Boston on February 28, at a Mass celebrated by Cardinal Sean O’Malley in Bethany Chapel at the Pastoral Center in Braintree. Fr. Linus will be celebrating a Mass of Thanksgiving to mark this event on Saturday, April 26, at 11AM at OLA followed by a reception in the Church Hall. All are welcome! An Easter update on our performance in the 2014 Catholic Appeal: as of April 9, OLA parishioners had pledged $39,957, or 75% of their goal; SMG parishioners had pledged $16,115 or 54% of their goal. If you have not made a pledge to the Catholic Appeal as of yet, please do so and help us achieve your respective parish’s goal. Our Pastoral Team wishes you a joyful Easter!
